To everyone who’s having problems fitting a Beer-Can-Chicken in their grill, here is an alternative.
You can cook the chicken horizontally instead of vertically. This is how it’s done:
Place the chicken on it’s back with the breast side up. Get a small can that’s usually used for “fruit cup” or tomato sauce. Remove all labels from the can and wash it well. Fill the can with your favorite liquid and insert it inside the chicken cavity (make sure you place the chicken on the grate prior to doing this). Close the chicken cavity with half of lemon, onion or potato. Follow the same recipe and the remaining instructions for cooking BCC. You can also use a small tuna can or a mini disposable foil pie pan to do this, but they’re not as deep and they might be too wide (depending on how big the chicken is). The end product should be the same as any BCC. This way you don’t need as deep of a grill, yet you’re getting the same moist and tasty chicken.
I hope this will make you try BCC if you weren’t able to in the past.
