While Steven is on his world tour researching his new book, Planet Barbecue, he'll be posting pictures of places he visits on his blog. If you have a guess about his whereabouts, post it here, and I'll post the answer next week.

Happy Grilling (and Guessing),

I'm just going to guess that they are rolling up possibly some kind of intestines? Maybe somewhere like Venezuela. Just my wild guess. I never was very good at those kind of things!

I agree with Laura about the the intestines (sausage casings) However I am guessing somewhere in the former eastern block. I will say Poland.

I'm betting that it is some sort of natural sausage casing BUT that it is being used to hold some other sort of food onto that giant rotisserie. Since its already mostly wrapped what is on the inside is a mystery. My hope is its in essence an big sausage instead of being ground up everything is whole. Served sliced. Kind of like a Turducken. I'm guessing the location is Eastern Block as well.

If thats not what it is then its a good idea, I'll try that!

According to the BBQ Trail Map, he is somewhere on California's western coast! :P

My vote is that he is in Chile, and that is Waldo that he is hanging out with! Anybody have a good photo editor that will zoom in clearly enough to see which language the containers are written in behind them?

I took it into Corel and the res is too low to zoom in much.
It just pixelates too much. Could it be Greece?

Somewhere in Mexico/maybe Brasil. And they are making some kind of "machito" wrapped with intestines. I'd even say that what is being wrapped is probably organ meat.

It also said that the good guessers would know the name of the restaraunt. From the looks of it, there's no local health inspector or he's been paid off pretty well!
I think it's one of the Baltic countries..

I showed the picture to my husband, and he also guessed Poland or Hungary, someplace like that. He was mainly looking at the clothes the older man was wearing. He tried not to look at the intestines!
