Hi,

I'm considering replacing my ancient Propane based grill with a Methane based Weber. But I'm wondering about the experiences of those of you that have made this switch. Propane molecules are larger and I believe that Propane burns a bit hotter. But Propane in tanks is delivered at a lower pressure than Methane (I think). But if the differences are subtle, I'd probably do it. Your experience in this matter is appreciated.

If you can plumb your grill into the natural gas supply of your house I'd do it in a minute!

You never run out. No tanks to haul around. It's always there, ready to go a moments notice. You may loose a little on the portablility issue, (like moving it to different parts of the yard).

As to the output issue lets get Grand Scale (natrual gas) and one of the other Gold D owners with propane to weigh in on this.

I agree with Yardburner having a quick connect hookup to natural gas is the best thing I've ever done for my grill.
I like my natural gas. I've had no problem getting my grill to 700+ degrees. So if heat is your concern with natural Gas I wouldn't worry about it.

Go with charcoal or wood, you won't regret it.

It's all in good fun. As long as we all share the love of the Q its alright. I do cook on propane sometimes. I have a coleman camp grill which is perfect for tailgating (until I get the trailer smoker). Other than that I have never Q'd with gas. Food just seems to taste better when done over coal or wood than it does with gas.
