I'm going to do 6-8 beer can chickens in the horizontal this weekend. Setting up and indirect fire in the main chamber and cooking 2 birds took aprx. 1 - 1 1/2 hours. This time I will use the firebox for my heat source. I'm thinking if I maintain a 230 - 250 degree temp ti will probably take aprx. 3-4 hours.
Any thoughts on this?

The more I make, the longer it takes. I used an upright gas smoker.

Thanks Bob. Although I feel kind of silly now . When I looked at the thread you gave me I realized I had posted it and forgot all about it.
Doh!

It all depends on how spherical the chickens are

Okay, Okay Okay.
They are semi-spherical and it will probably depend on my thermodynamawhatchamacolits!
Anyway I will let you all know how I made out next week. Going to do 8 all with a different rub and or slather.

There is something inherently pleasant about the word slather- don't you think?
