I love using lump charcoal except for the ashes that I typically get from the newspaper that I use in the chimney starter. Does anyone have a solution to this problem.

Most of the guy's here seem to be pleased with using paper towels. They leave much less reidue. Another option in to use wax and sawdust based firestarters.

Start it in my old jumbo joe that I only use for camping now.
