I thought of that but is that the ambient heat of the grill area, or the actual heat of theburners. Either way would the be instantaneous melting at their max temp or only after prolonged use. I don't know the ansewrs.
Either way I'm thinking that they would be great for basting purposes!
I don’t know if that’s a typo on the web site? But the place I bought them from claimed that they withstand temp up to 625. Either way, I agree with YB, they’re mainly used for basting food. Silicon is nothing but sand, it is similar to glass and not plastic. If they do melt, it wouldn’t be like plastic dose. I have not notice any deterioration on the brushes, and I’ve had them for over 6 months.
