A twist on an old fav...

Went camping this weekend and had an unexpected propane leak, therefore our cooking options were limited to the charcoal grill. Mrs. Tex whipped up some french toast cooked over the coals. A little bit of honey on top and MmmMmmMmMmmmm - DEEElicious!

Thats a cool little grill you got there.

Necessity is a mother! Nicely done on the French toast and I'm sure it tasted better because of the experience.

Charcoal is never a limitation.

Thanks! I bought it just a couple of weeks ago at a place called Buc-ee's in Madisonville, Texas for $100. Buc-ee's is a convenience store/gas station on steroids. http://www.buc-ees.com/madisonville.htm I first spotted these back in March when I traveled through there and have thought about it ever since. I drove back through there two weeks ago and couldn't pass it up again. I've wanted a tabletop barrel type grill for camping for a long time and could never find anything that wasn't made in China. This is a heavy duty pit for sure. I'd guess it's about 40 lbs. I've cooked on it a few times and it cooks pretty darn good. I did have to add a charcoal grate to get better airflow though.

Actually, he wiped that out right along with a cold, chocolate milk. He just wasn't happy about me taking his picture.

Cooking all meals on the grill- looks great!
