Richmond, VA to Myrtle Beach. I95

I'm heading to Myrtle Beach in June. and was wondering if there was some quick Q stops off I-95 I could hit up on the way down or back?

Heading down I-95 through North Carolina there are several decent Q-joints that I could recommend. From north to south:
- Ralph's Barbecue - in Weldon (buffet with good Q)
- Parker's Barbecue - in Wilson (probably the best along I-95)
- Bill's (Bill Ellis) Barbecue & Chicken - in Wilson
- Nelson's Barbecue - in Lumberton

If you see a "Smithfield's Chicken & Bar-B-Q" I'd suggest you try that too. They don't cook over charcoal/wood, but their Q has great "Eastern NC" barbecue flavor. They are a BIG chain with more than 30 locations in NC.

My buddy lives in Myrtle Beach. His favorite is Prosser's in Murrell's Inlet. He said it's the best at the beach. There's also a decent little hole in the wall q joint called "Little Pigs" in Myrtle Beach on 62nd Avenue.

I am heading to Murrell's Inlet, so I will check that one out.

Been to "Little Pigs", NOT impressed!

My friend said it was "decent." I'm not certain that I've ever been to that one. We have a Little Pigs in Columbia that's really good though, and it's a good bargain at $7 for the buffet (including the drink). I don't eat the barbecue there, just the country cooking....loooove their fried pork chops, broccoli casserole, collards, mac n cheese, fried okra and homemade tater chips. I know I've passed by the one in Myrtle Beach, but I can't remember if I've ever eaten at that one. Looks a lot smaller than the one we have in Columbia.

Right outside of Richmond... We tried both. Prefer the little joint PG BBQ #1 to the larger shop. Big drum smoker in parking lot. Great sliced brisket and sauce, very good minced pork. Excellent sides. Ribs were tried only at the larger shop and were too "cafeteria-style" to my liking. Served slathered in sauce and falling off the bone. Nice bark, but no real smoke. Minced pork and sliced brisket had nice smoke rings, bark in every bite.
