Yes. "Cold Oil Fries"... Easy too... SCmustardman posted a method awhile back that works for us every time. Get Yukon Gold potatoes and cut them into fries... ONLY Golds... Place them into a pot and pour room temp oil over them until they are covered. Turn the burner on High. After 5 minutes, they should start making some noise and start boiling. After another 10-15 minutes, give them a stir... If your pot is old and/or prone to sticking, be careful not to break the potatoes and give them light and frequent stirs before then... When the fries are done, they should be a golden brown. Use a slotted spoon and place on some paper towels to remove the excess oil. Then Salt them and serve... You can sort of play with the timing until it suits your preference.
