Turtle Eggs

The credit for these lil beauties all goes to Chris over at Nibble Me This I saw him do these back in march and knew that I had to do them. This weekend we went down to the ranch and I thought it would be the perfect time to try them out.

For sure. They just became my new favorite. More than ABTs even.

Why make a full meal when there are appetizers like this?!?!?

Well, there were 7 of us that night. We also had ABTs, steaks (rib eye and strip) baked potatoes, salad and I think there was something else, but by that point my memory gets a lil fuzzy.

Those look so good Griff. What do you mean cut into 11 strips or so of the sausage? Do you use the log itself?

What is that torch all about, looks like you are lighting the coals with it?

Eddie - I used a log of Jimmy Dean. Just divide it into 10 or 11 equal parts. i actually only did 8 with it.

sroach - it's called a "weed burner" and yes I was using it to light my coals. Basically its a mini flame thrower. You can get it at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Northern Tools. It's how I've been lighting my smoker and now my egg for years. Quickest way i know to light charcoal...or anything flameable for that matter.

Since I am going to buy a large egg this year, this might be the trick to lighting my coal.. HMM...

I don't think they are very expensive. $20-25 I think. I could be wrong.

Those do look great! When you posted "Turtle Eggs" thought you might have stumbled on an abandoned nest near one of your tanks and had real turtle eggs.
I like turtle meat. Get some from time to time and make a great turtle soup.

Never seen any turtles out there before. The tank tends to dry up in the summer if we don't get enough rain, so I doubt if they would survive.

I had turtle soup last year in NO. Pretty good stuff.
