Is anyone familiar with Pork-N-More BBQ in Greensburg, Indiana? I'm taking a trip to Ohio later this year and Greensburg's on 1 of my possible routes. Thanks!

I'm hoping to work in a visit to South Street Smokehouse in Lafayette, too.

I have ate at Pork-N-More and it was actually pretty good. We had the ribeye steaks but they gave us some samples of the BBQ pork. The restaurant is located in what used to be an old tire shop that set vacant for a long time. They are probably about a mile or so from where we live.

There was also a bakery in there as well before Pork-N-More. When you see the restaurant they have 2 big barrel cookers on trailers that they smoke on and they use nothing but hickory and also get the butts from a local grocery store. I have not had the brisket because they were out of it the day we were there otherwise I was going to get the pork and the brisket as a combo but since they were out of a lot of the items once they run out that is it.

Stories restaurant is just up the road about a block and a half from Pork-N-More and they are known for their homemade pies and also their tenderloins. They usually have daily lunch specials every day and is pretty much the community hangout for the locals. They used to buy all their meat from the local mom and pop grocery store and butcher shop that I worked at as a teen after I graduated high school until I went away for school. The grocery store closed down after the son who was supposed to take over the store passed away of a massive heart attack and they didnt have the heart to go on without John so they closed the doors and never reopened.

Their is also Trackside which is just up the road a couple more blocks and they are known for their Boss Hogg super tenderloins which are as big as a plate and they also have big fresh cheeseburgers and hamburgers which are pretty good also. Make sure you get a picture of yourself in front of the courthouse with the tree that grows out of the top of the courthouse, the tree is world famous and has been the focus of many photographers worldwide. Greensburg nickname is "Tower Tree" because of the tree and you will see alot of advertising campaigns showing a tree in the advertisements

Thanks, Jeff! That's too bad about John and the grocery store; it's always tough when a good local business has to close down.

Looks like I'd better be hungry when I get to Greensburg. I'm trying to get a couple of friends to meet me there and if they show up we might be able to tackle tenderloins from Storie's and Trackside as well as some barbecue...I'm not young enough to try it on my own anymore!

You guys talking about the old grocery store. I remember one of those from when I was a kid in the Kenmore area of Akron, Oh. "Mom & Pop" passed away, I'm sure that someone had to have cleaned out the perishables, but store was just locked up and left "as is" - this had to have happened in the early 1960's - know it was still there in early - mid 1970's. For all I know, it could still be there. Won't go to Akron until Father's Day weekend but going to drive by to look. We used to ride by on our bikes, stop, and look through the windows.
Going to have to make a side trip to Greensburg next time we head to Indy area - maybe end of March or end of April.

Come on down Cactus, we are only 36 miles southeast of 465 on I-74 E on the south side. Come and visit our famous tree and get your picture taken with it to show all your family and friends. And if you make it here on a weekend you can meet up with me as well.

The old mom & pop store was called Mr Ed's and I remember mom getting groceries there when I was a little runt and I would always ask for a pound of icicles from the top of the deli case. They had the best meats in town and was actually voted best meat as best of Decatur County like 6 years in a row. Actually one of the deli workers now works for another local butcher shop and we get to see her every once in a while.

We stay Exit 100 or 101 I65 - right by "Cheeseburgers In Paradise". Niece and her family live just west of Southport.
Thought maybe we'd be going end of the month but might be end of April or early May before a mini family reunion. Dad, sister and her husband, nephew and his family come from Akron, Oh. and we try to come 2 or 3 times a year.
Easter getting in the way, wife leaves for a week in Arizona day after too see her oldest daughter and her family - couldn't get vacation time so I have to stay home this trip. We have a commitment in Springfield, IL. the following weekend.
Is there a casino right there by the exit? Niece won just under $11,000 on a penny slot at one a couple months back somewhere off of I74 20 minutes or half hour east of Indy.

Indiana Live Casino is at Shelbyville exit 109 which is on I-74 and is about 25 minutes from my house. I drive right by the casino twice a day heading back and forth to work in Indy west side.

There is also a large Kroger warehouse right by the casino where all the kroger and kroger family stores get their frozen food and produce. My brother runs dedicated run out of there to chicago area 5 nights a week

Indiana Live - that's the one. It's the one by or at the old race track, right? I've been there. Used to dispatch for a FedEx National LTL - I now run a dock lane for FedEx Freight. We ran 5 - 8 relays every night from Schaumburg, IL to Shelbyville.

Yes they have a race track there as well and was originally a horse track then they added the casino later on. They started out in a big tent like structure which is still across the street and not sure what they use it for now but they use the parking lot as overflow parking.

The tent is still there and just sits empty. I had heard they were going to tear it down but that may be where they do off track betting, not sure
