I was looking around for the old "sticky" Char Griller community thread recently, only to be told that it somehow got lost as a consequence of some spam attack issue.

Consequently, I am proposing that said community thread for all things Char Griller be resurrected. Please, may I (and hopefully others that agree) prevail upon the moderators that a new thread be "stickyfied" so we can rebuild. If so, I am suggesting that some of the classic posts (modifications, etc.) could be reposted on said CG community thread, along with recent and future posts.

Frankly, the former thread was one of the best things that ever happened to me in my relatively short BBQ "career" - providing all kinds of information and encouragement (e.g., food porn) in the con text of using the economically affordable, versatile, and expandable family of Char Griller equipment.

Please join me, if you share a similar affinity for the "old black and red" by encouraging the powers-that-be on this austere and fabled Barbecue Bible Website to hear our pleas!

Here is my first post that started the Char Griller family thread. It’s a good thing that I saved it for all these years :)
Just in case you all want to resurrect the old thread as Danny suggested…

“This thread is dedicated to past, present, and future Char-Griller owners. It’s also helpful for anyone considering buying an excellent over all combination Grill/smoker. It’s a true 2 in 1 unit. If you’re considering the leap to charcoal cooking, this unit will give both options: Grilling with charcoal and smoking with charcoal.
First a brief description:
The Char-Griller is a drum/barrel type smoker/ grill. The main chamber cooking surface measures 20â€

I was wondering what happened to the thread.I hadn't been here in some time.Busy you know. When I stopped back in,it was gone. I thought it was taken off as it seems most of you have gone on to the Green Egg thing. I am glad the thread is back and I still love my Char Griller. It will do what ever I ask of it and more. JT

I think I started in late 2003 or early 2004?

Burgers and YB,
I was not able to open that link either.

I’m glad to see we still have many CG fans and hopefully we’ll restore a lot of the info back to the thread :D

How did you access "WayBack"
When I click on the link it just says "Loading..." but nothing happens??

I humbly present my CG bottle opener mod for those with a side gas burner

I've been needing to add one last thing to finalize the mods to my CG Duo w/ SFB....finally finished it this weekend

A frosty beverage opening device and catcher :D

I'd been putting it off cause I wanted some sort of catch pan for bottle caps (don't want to chase them around) and hadn't been ambitious enough to bend up sheet metal for one. Then the other day, I had a lightbulb go off...I've got one built in underneath my side burner. Pull it out partially before popping the top and the caps fall right in.

Perfect

It's slightly off-center from the drip pan but dead center on the side of the grill so it looks good.

It may be a browser issue, or, since it's computer stuff, maybe the phase of the moon on the fifth Thursday of the month in Bangladesh...

Try putting this in your address bar:
http://wayback.archive.org/web/

Then, in the search box that (should) open, put this:

http://www.barbecuebible.com/board/view ... c195b0c65b

That should take you to the original post in full.

I've tried it in Chrome, IE and Firefox and it worked with no problem. If you're getting a "possible malicious site" alert, it may be the level of security you have your browser set for.. Try checking in the "tools" tab and see if your security is set abnormally high.
