Hard to Believe It’s Been 25 Years …

Normally, the subject of this blog is barbecue, but I have to take the opportunity to congratulate my friend and colleague, Sheila Lukins, co-author of the Silver Palate cookbook. Sheila is a fellow author at Workman Publishing and her landmark book–recently reissued in a 25th anniversary edition–virtually invented contemporary American cooking.
Here’s Steven with Sheila at the launch party for the anniversary edition at Boat House in New York. If we cook with goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar today, it’s thanks to Sheila. If we score big at dinner parties, it’s thanks to such Silver Palate classics as chicken marbella, Scandinavian potato salad, cocktail riblets, and miniature lamb kebabs (the latter great on the grill).
