Washington State BBQ / Restaurants

So, maybe smokin'newb or SeattleQ can answer this for me. Work is sending me to Lakewood, WA in February. Never been to the Pacific Coast before. Are there any restaurants, attractions, etc. that I should check out while I'm there? Lookin' fwd. to the trip!

I actually have not eaten any commercial BBQ out this way, but a bartender I met (originally from St. Louis, MO) highly recommended a place called "Sticky Fingers). I can't remember where it is....Marysville..something or other....way out in the sticks if I recall.

Lakewood is about and hour south of Seattle down I-5 and honestly not the best town in the state by far. Will you have a rental car or anything that can get you north?

Peco'sPit BBQ in south Seattle is really good but have to get here early as the line go around the block and on the east-side 3 Pigs is decent and I am trying to remember the name of the BBQ joint in Issaqua that is really good too.

Also if you can make it to Seattle you will want to visit Salumi in Pioneer Square, it is Mario Batali's dads shop that is amazing and again have to get there very early as the line gets very long. Dicks drive in , best greasy fries and burgers. the tater sauce is great!

and IMO the best BBQ in the Seattle area is Mac's smokehouse on first ave south , near where the kingdome use to stand.

Oh and BTW , Lakewood area in Pierce county is a bad area, I'd be very careful where you go there.

smokin'gal, We have a restaurant called "Sticky Fingers" around here. They serve some pretty good barbecue. You can find their bottled sauces in some grocery stores. When I looked at the link you gave me, that's a whole new restaurant altogether. Interesting that they have the same name....

Seattle-Q, yeah that sux that I'll be in Lakewood and not Seattle. I won't have a rental car, but I should have per diem for taxi service. I'll try to get to Seattle if I have time to check some of those places out. Do you guys have a train or anything like that up that way that would be a little more cost-efficient for transportation?

The class is now being held in Richmond, KY in March. I hope to make it to Seattle one day though....I hear it's gorgeous. I'll be going through a series of these courses, so maybe I can find one being held up your way after I've completed the one in KY.

Bring hip waders, raining stupid now. Atleast not snow, the amount of rain there is. Sept probably the best time of year. Or mid spring before June, alwise seems to rain in June.......
