Happy Fathers Day!

Here’s Steven with his father, Sonny Raichlen. Grilling can be a powerful bonding experience for fathers and sons (and fathers and daughters). There’s so much information to pass from one generation to another: how to light a grill safely, the five methods of live fire cooking, good grill hygiene and food safety, and, of course, those cherished family recipes–a particularly killer brisket or smoke scented ribs–passed from grandfather to father to son or daughter. In Steven’s family, steak was king and it was served “Pittsburgh rare” (the outside charred black, the inside cooked just north of mooing). It’s never too early to start sharing your grilling knowledge with the next generation. The best Fathers Day gift you can give to yourself is to bond with your kids at the grill.
