Been to the one in Pigeon Forge and it was pretty good! Lots of thick red sauce covering EVERYTHING! BBQ chicken was the best item they offered!

We are a smallish town about 80 miles Northeast of Memphis (straight up I-40) and have a Corky's here. I have tried most everything that this area has to offer...the Rendevous, I-40 Barbecue, and most every mom and pop stop between here and Memphis (Bozo's being the absolute best). I have never been truly impressed with Corky's. That is kind of the general concensus for West Tennessee. If you are in a "barbecue-less" market, I guess Corkys might be a welcomed sight, but you can usually find something better, if you look. Locally, we consider Corky's to be the place you go when you just don't want anything else. They are next to the interstate, so they get a lot of the pass through business. There is always plenty of seating at the one here, if that tells you anything.

Blazer is 100% correct. To people like me, who don't have access to great BBQ joints, Corky's is excellent and I have to give a lot of credit to Corky's for my interst in BBQ. I went on a business trip to Memphis and my hotel was right by the Corky's on Poplar Ave. For me, and the lack of BBQ in Metro-Detroit, Corky's was amazing. It actually was part of the reason I got into BBQ and smoking. I didn't want the baked and grilled ribs typically served up around here, I wanted something better. So Blazer is right, for someone like me...it is great. I have since had the chance to visit another Corky's in Springfield, IL. I do have to add this...the locations outside of Memphis do not compare. Plus, my wife loves their rub.

I had a Corky's in my town for over a year and loved everything I ate there. I live near vinegar-overwhelmed Lexington, NC, and I was disappointed that an awesome joint like Corky's couldn't hack out a chunk of the action. They invest time into their food, and that makes a huge difference.

I'm glad they've starting selling the sauce in grocery stores. :D

Well, I drove by Corky's BBQ here in Jackson, TN yesterday and saw the sign on the door. CLOSED PERMANENTLY!!! I guess it only took about 2 years for them to decide that I-40 and Wal-Mart weren't going to draw the kind of numbers they needed. The newspaper says that a management team from Memphis came in yesterday morning and started calling all the employees telling them not to come to work.

So I picked up Steven's BBQ USA book this weekend and was surprised to see Corky's mentioned as a place to get some saucy BBQ in Memphis.

There is one at the casino here in southern Indiana. I `ve had a lot of BBQ
from all over and I must say their pulled pork was some of the
best I`ve ever had. Didn`t think the ribs were anything special.

I've been one of the Corky's locations in Memphis. (may be the only) Anyhow, this was almost 10 years ago and would agree that the ribs were mediocre. The appealing factor was at the time I had seen them featured on a Food Network show, and while visiting with friends decided to give them a try. I'm sure there are other joints with better Q in Memphis.

I live in Memphis area and Corky's on Poplar is where I take all out of towners for ribs. Here's a tip- If you aren't happy with your ribs there, tell your wait person. They will get you a new rack, no questions asked. Sometimes its just the meat. Everything else is well controlled- AND DELICIOUS...

Also, if you live near Memphis or travel here a lot and get tired of the ribs (believe it or not, I sometimes do), get the Catfish. Its good.
