Ok Ok I get it.
How's this sound. I will begin to sell my rub. But I need to do several things first. I need a label design and or a source for labels. They go on a standard 2 pound bottle. The company Name is Go Big BBQ. Our slogan is Size Matters. Beyond that have fun. So here's my idea, we're going to have an informal poll contest. This is not a Workman thing just little old me (info if I'm out of line just let me know) but to anyone on the board. Help me design my label and the winning design gets a free bottle and a Go Big BBQ Tshirt. Other than that I'm afraid to do free bottles because where do I start and stop. There are too many friends here to give everyone a freebie. Sorry.
The only other issue is how to handle the cash part of the transaction. What is the best way to get money from one person to another. Any suggestions.
I am working on www.gobigbbq.com but it is a long way off. Eventually I could use that but are there any suggestions for the interim.

You could start a store on Ebay. And I know they are a pain cause they want their piece but its a start and you could always stop it once you're set. I have seen some local places by me selling their stuff on Craigslist too. Inquire with some of websites that sell these types of products. See what they want up front and see if its doable.

If you're looking at internet sales, you could use Paypal as an option. And I think Paypal can work even on other sales, but I don't know.

Easiest way would be credit cards, but I don't have any specifics about how to do that. I'd talk to a computer expert about setting up secure transactions.

At a comp, you might talk to other folks who sell items about how they do it.

For cash, that's easy. Checks are a big risk, which is why most folks don't take them.

Your best bet to start is to talk with existing stores or opening stores (crazyforbbq and MrBrew come to mind) who could give you a retail outlet.

When you start, let me know. I'd liketo check on the rub and a shirt.

GS, if you've got some credentials behind it, or had others tell you how good it is, why not do it? It's low cost to try the way you're talking about... go for it.

Paypal is the way to go.... you can accept credit card payments and payments from other Paypal users (even international ones ).

I wouldn't mind buying some myself, as for a sample all i would need is a t-spoon or less in a zip lock bag to check out how it taste's.
and yes paypal for one on paying online, credet cards are good too but AMEX charges you for transactions and thats where i find i cant buy alot of things online as they dont take AMEX.

First off, I haven't been active on here in awhile, but I do still occassionally lurk and will be re-participating actively starting... now. Another CG w SFB is showing up on my doorstep today, so it's a given.,

Echoing the other's, Paypal really is the way to go. Cheap, easy, respected (not too often do those words go together...).

When I get some time this weekend or early in the coming week, I'll put together some logo ideas and throw my hat into the ring for the swag (Yuengling shipped to Ohio would guarantee your success. ). Any help you need from the web side, marketing ideas, design, sounding-board, etc., just yell. Net design, strategy, marketing are my core backgrounds and small business is always the most fun to work with. Great start with the domain name and slogan, so there's plenty of fun to be had for those designers that might populate this board.

Wish I could draw! I have the germ of an idea running around the gray matter, but I don't know if I can flesh it out with my drawing skills.
