Heres some first pics of our fantastic weekend.
I´ve just got home and im drop dead tired, so ill post the rest of the story later on.

We placed first in the Bratwurst category, second with chicken and
dessert ,and fish and beef must also been in the top 5.
After all, we had a huge advantage in points and made first.

Outstanding! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a German competition has a bratwurst category...

Is there a site specifically for the competition? It would be interesting to read how the rules, etc. differ from American contests.

Hmmm...this would be an interesting idea for Wisconsin because of our strong German and Scandinavian heritage.

I'm curious too. What dishes did you enter to win this competition? I think I'm seeing cedar-planked salmon, but I'm not sure..........

Also, how did you get your rigs to Germany? CharGrillers are pretty heavy.

Okay, heres some answers :

Triple Thread, i took most of the pics youve seen so far, and on the rest theres always a head, arm or glass of beer in front of me.

Anyway, heres a pic from Berlin, 2 weeks ago with just a small part of our team.
I´m the third guy from the right.



Outagas , nope, theres not a single cook, butcher, caterer or anything food related on our team. We´re just die hard grillers and barbecuers.

Brad, there is a site but theres almost no information available and its just not worth the bity and bytes.

Heres the rules in short :

Theres 5 Categories each team has to cook :

Bratwurst, Fish, Poultry, Beef and Dessert (no ribs this year ).

Each team has to cook at least 11 plates, theres 4 turn in boxes for blind tasting , 2 guys from the jury and 4 guests at the booth and 1 presentation plate.
After al, theres 6 people judging the meals.

Stlou BBQ, our team is set together from people out of our bbq-forum, www.mybbq.net.
We met each other for the first time in january and from then on one saturday each month. We met at our sponsors company, wich is in the middle of germany, cause our team is from all across the country and some people had dto drive 300 miles each time.
We met 5 times, build our botth, discussed about recipes, cooked, drank and had lots of fun.
2 weeks ago a part of the team attended at the berlin barbecue championchips to gain some experience for the german championchips, and we made second place on our first competition.

Our sponsor is the european distributor for char grillers, so that was not much of a problem

Bratwurst Key West

Bratwurst made out of pork and shrimps












Cedar wrapped salmon

Salmon smoked and grilled in thin cedar wrap, with grilled asparagus









Chicken Lolipops

Chicken Wings with different seasonings, goat cheese packages, grilled pineapple










Cattlemans Dream

Argentinian Ox Tenderloin, Eggplant butterfly, potatoe wedges on rucola with pesto








Hot Chocolate

Miniature mars, Snicker, Milky way bars rolled in a thin dough and the grilled.
Served with strawberry and vanilla sauce.
