Tried the beer can chicken by the book a few times, but have also tried a different rub. Here in the New Orleans area you can go to any supermarket and find numerous kinds of spice concoctions on the shelves. I use Tony Chachere's and Zatarain's. And, guess what? They work great!!

We get their red beans and rice here in Philly (though we don't get corned pork to make the real deal.) Makes a great side for any BBQ.

I know what it means to miss New Orleans .. Y'all can't FIND a bad meal down there !!!
