Once I tried the BBC, it's the only way to go. I beer can a chicken at least once a week. I tried a Turkey last year for Thanksgiving and failed miserably, the turkey fell over, couldn't keep temp steady enough, the bird was not done. This year I made a few changes and WOW! Best I've ever had to include those deep fried babies. Thanks for the help.

I did Beer Can Chicken just once so far on a Weber Performer (nifty grill) and had good success with it. My family loved it and so did I. Next time I'll go for a lower heat, though, which I expect I'll achieve with fewer coals and slightly less than wide-open vents. I recommend this recipe to anyone who loves chicken, and I also heartily recommend The Barbecue Bible and How To Grill, the latter being filled with beautiful photos. Both are reader friendly and well laid out.
