I stopped by the local BBQ Galore store Saturday intending to buy another Weber 22 ½ to replace my old one. To make a long story short, I bought a new cooking grate and fire grate for the old Weber, and a new BabyQ gas grill. I thought it was kind if whimpy, but my wife thought it was cute. I have wanted a small gas grill for those week day dinners for two people. I am totally impressed. Last night I did a couple of salmon steaks and tonight some chicken thighs. (8 fit nicely on the grill.) The thighs were nicely grill marked and done in 21 minutes, only 3 minutes longer than over charcoal in the old Weber.
The thing does have “porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates.” They seem to work just fine, but will need some tender care. I am hesitant to use the old grill scraper on them, and believe they will need a good washing every week or so. Anyone have any recommendations for their care?
