I've got one. I'm a gadget freak whose wife lets him get nearly any grill thing I want provided I keep feeding her, you shouldn't be suprised.
Anyway it works great. Yes a bigger can works too but what I've found is the bigger breasted bird (there's a joke there somewhere but this is a PG forum) like the Turkey can get a little wobbly or in most cases too tall for your grill. This solves both problems. Do you need it...no. Is it cool...yeah.

You're right about the cool factor. I own a few gadgets that are, as you said, not necessary, but cool. When I grill or BBQ, presentatioin is important to me. I want to entertain my guests as thoroughly as possible. The food, of course, has to speak for itself, but if you can add a little "wow" factor, it makes dinner a bit more fun. BCC, grilled pizza, and smoked cabbage are all good for this. And boy, they're tasty too!
