Types of wood

I was wondering if walnut or mulberry woods are acceptable sources for smoke? Also, can any type of maple be used in smoking?

I use maple for smoking turkey and chicken and it comes out with a very distinct taste almost reminding me of a smoked bacon. I use True North maple chips that are put out by The Smokin' Company Ltd from Lacomb Alberta Canada. If you can't find a supplier, let me know and I will send a bag your way.

While I can't comment on mulberry, I have heard that walnut is acceptable, and while any maple, as far as I know, can be used, most seem to prefer sugar maple.

I use a lot of mesquite, mixing chunks of the wood with mesquite charcoal imported from Mexico. I also have a deal with a local pecan orchard, where I can raid their brushpiles when they prune their trees. It really tastes great.
