Kettle into pizza oven

So i am going to be going to pick up a 22.5 kettle lid to transform it into a pizza oven for my performer! My question is what dimensions should i make for the cut out?

Ive seen pictures before of someone cutting out part of the lid to make it easy to slide the peel in...

any help would be appreciated.

I cut my dome lid something like 17"x4".

I was planning on using a dremel rotary tool with a metal cutting blade on it, you think that will cut through the metal lid?

Yes a dremel should work better than what I used. I a grind with a cutting wheel. That's why mine didn't come out as nice.

Kind of spendy, but piqued my interest. Sounds like you are pretty handy with a home mod, but thought you might check it out.

I really like the look and idea of that kettlepizza but honestly its a little pricey for me right now. Maybe eventually.

I figured i would at least try the lid method and then go from there.

Years ago I bought a new 22" lid when the handle welds broke on my old one, but I wound up fixing them with screws and fender washers so the new lid has been gathering dust in my basement since then. I could sacrifice the repaired lid for the pizza mod, I suppose...
