I think that when they first same out, Char-griller did not offer an accessory like the Egg has for indirect cook, but it seems like they now have one available for their kamado cooker. If it works like the place setter (and it looks the same to me), then you should get this so you can open up the world of indirect cooking/ smoking. I use mine all the time for ribs, brisket, butts and all the desserts I've been doing lately.

Thanks for the heads up that it was finally available. It's been in the works since the Akorn was first released.

I purchased a Weber charcoal grate and 15" round & half-round cordierite stone for indirect cooks. The Weber grate fits perfectly on the ledges made for the Chargriller smoking stone & the 15" stones leave just enough gap.

If I see a deal on the smoking stone, I may pick one up, but at $30, I'll pass since I don't need it.
