Plan B

I planned on cooking a brisket for Mom's day, bur 80% chance of rain all weekend
My cooking area uncovered so I'll be taking mom out Sunday .

sorry to here that i wish i still had ny mom to take out consider yourself lucky

Although I've never done it I've read about people cooking briskets at a higher heat, maybe even as high as 350, with success. If you were able to get a window of 3 or 4 hours would that be a possibility?

Alternatively, if it's not raining now what about cooking it partially in the smoker and then finishing it in the oven on Sunday?

Maybe Brad has a point? I used to put up make-shift shelters for my CG when I didn't have the gazebo (i.e. A lean tube made out of plywood). You also have that nice CG Kamado now, so I doubt the temp would be affected too much with the rain. Maybe just an umbrella of some sort mounted over the top would do? Kamados are pretty air tight, so you wouldn't need much to keep the rain from entering the exhaust.... you would probably have it barely cracked anyways to keep the temperature low. You're more of a handyman than I am (I've seen your wicked cool smoky joe homemade smokers ), so I'm sure you could think of something even better!

Rain stopping tonite about 4-5 AM Sunday morning.
Putting on a 13 lb. brisket @ 7:00 AM, cooking at 300F for 6 hours & panning
Should be done & ready to eat for mothers day supper @ 7 PM
