While on vacation my buddy used the grill and had as he calls it a minor grease fire. Well anyway, the Stainless steel cover has now discolored terribly from the heat. Any help on how to clen it? Can it be cleaned? (Brinkman pro series 2600)

Try one of the commercial cleaning products available at lowes or Home depot. Alot of guys like and swear by Goo-Gone Grill Cleaner. There are several posts on cleaning grills here that will give you even more ideas.
Good Luck.
And remember, its only superficial. As long as she still cooks thats all that matters.
