buying a smoker in Idaho

I have just bought steves book on "how to grill" I have a question. He describes a smoker with 3/8 thick steel, All I find here localy is 1/16 or 1/4 at best. any Ideas?

Thicker steel tends to retain heat better. It’s especially helpful when smoking in very cold climates. But even if you get a smoker with thinner metal, there are ways to account and adjust for heat loss. It all depends on how much money you’re going to spend and how you’re going to use the smoker. If you can’t find what you’re looking for locally, you might want to check sources on the Internet. Some places maybe willing to ship, and others may direct you to local dealers.
