jm42fan, glad to see another okie on this site finally. I live in Colorado Springs now but the wife and I are trying desperately to find jobs back in OKC where we are from.

As for a grilling store in OKC you might want to check out Academy. I got my Okalhoma Joe's smoker from there. They have a decent outdoor cooking section there with good prices.

If you know of any places that are hiring in OKC I would love to hear about them.

Thanks, Bob!

So far I've just been soaking up information from you guys. I saw Steve on FoodTV a while back and thought his BBQ university looked very interesting. Recently I discovered the books and this has quickly become an obsession for me :)

Mason,
I have a geography degree from UCO and right now I am working as a Geographic Information Systems Analyst. I make maps on a computer basically. I am looking for any kind of work that pays secent and has benefits. I have applied for everything from a geological technian to a mortage company. My wife is an employment consultant for the disabled and she is also looking for something.
Do you live in the OKC area?

Now that i read your profile, I see you do live in OKC. I really miss Oklahoma. Colorado is nice but the people up here aren't to friendly and the cost of living is horribly high. All mine and my wifes family live back in OK also

I technically live in Moore.

Devon Energy seems to have some geological type work available. You can look at http://www.devonenergy.com

For those of you who're actually in the OKC metro, Crest is having a giant meat sale through tomorrow.

Thats pretty funny, Devon Energy is one company I check on about once a week for jobs. Thats where I applied for the geological techncian position at. I have also applied for a GIS specialist position they offered with no luck.

While I was in college in Edmond I shopped at Crest all the time. They always had a good selection of meat for a good price. Now I have a Sams membership and thats all she wrote, they have great prices and fresh meat. I have talked to a caterer and thats where he got everything for his business.

Thanks for the tip on the jobs and if you know or hear of anything else I would really appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks again

The only reason I knew about that job is because I was out researching their company. I have an interview with them on Tuesday :D

I'll keep my eyes open for other things.

Hey Blues & Mason

I wasn't near the computer all weekend. Glad to see more Okies on here. I don't know of any jobs around here like what your looking for. I'll keep my ears open for anything.

Mason,
What position are you interviewing for with Devon? I sent a resume in to Midland Mortage Company on Thursday. I have a friend who works there and hopefully I will hear something soon. Good Luck with your interview.

I'm a professional computer geek. I'm interviewing for a 6 month contract to hire Desktop Support job there today.

I'm excited and nervous. I'm looking forward to getting back into the corporate world after a year at Tinker.

Blargh. Devon apparently doesn't have a CIO right now, so they didn't want to call it a contract to hire incase the new CIO wants to go a different direction.

This sucks. I'm going to have to go home and grill something to make myself feel better. I guess you have to find the positive in everything :D
