Hi Everyone.

I was wondering if anyone has ever gone to a BBQ championship and the experiences they had. I don't mean Competing in a championship, just go there to get some ideas - recipes, taste the food, and check out the sights.

There is a championship in NJ I was thinking about going to in July:

If you get a chance, please share your experiences.

Thanks,

Don

We go to RibFest every year here in Minneapolis. Rib smokers from all over the country come for the competition. The food is great and the music is free. It's fun to go to each vendor and get a 2 bone sample. Works out great as my wife usually comes along. I can usually manage a bone from each vendor but she usually knocks off early. Different sauces, textures, and flavors. We have our own little contest to see which one we like best.

More info at http://www.rockinribfest.com/ for anyone who's in the Minneapolis area at the end of July. If you go, don't miss Cowboy Mouth on Friday night (right after Spin Doctors). One of the best live bands I've ever seen.

If there isn't a people's choice award, I'd make sure you went on the evening before the turn in. That's generally the time when the competitors have the time to talk to people. Things get hectic before turn in times.
