Best one out there that I have found is "Smoke and Spice"

By Cheryl and Bill Jamison.

I've worn out a couple of copies since it came out in '94 or '95

Like Steven's books it will take you from beginner to advanced.

welcome to the board lenster56!

The books mentioned above are on my wish list...and if you'll read around on the board you will find that much of what is in Steven's cook books can be made in a smoker, horizontal or vertical. Hope you'll hang around as we have serveral offset owners on the board, many of which have purchased them in the last two months.

I cut my smoking eye teeth on a Black Diamond which is the predicessor to the Silver Smoker. It's a great pit. If you didn't pick up the Thermometer for it run down and get one. There are a couple of mods like the baffle and stack extention that you might want to look into. Double check your stack, the new ones we are getting in already have a longer stack so you might not have to do that mod.

Welcome to the board. I have looked for books specifically on horizontal smokers and how to's. I have not found one, but the above books including Stephens are exceptional. I probably have the most use from Paul Kirks book next to Stephens (HTG, BBQB)
