For ribs, try Dreamland. A real institution in the Birmingham-Tuscaloosa ( U of A) area.
I also like Golden Rule. Been around a hundred years it seems like.
Also, stop in Bruno's supermarket and pick up a couple of bottles of Ollie's sauce. Vinegar based with a little tomato, and very different from what you're used to. Makes an excellent finishing sauce for semi-dry ribs.
