Where should I go in NC & SC?

What's your favorite place (aside from your backyard) to eat BBQ?

The absolute best of eastern NC BBQ is Wiburs in Goldsboro and only a notch behind is Mitchells in WIlson.

Ed in Franklin

I know your travels will be mostly central Carolinas. However over here in western North and South Carolina we sneak across the border and go to Oinker's in Clayton Georgia. Only open Thurs-Sat and, since Southern Living Magizine visited, expect long lines so go early.

There is a town near Aiken called Barnwell. You should try Black's BBQ there(Thurs-Fri-Sat only). Also, the best Q in all of SC is Sweatman's in Holly Hill, SC (same days). There are two Sweatman's. The real one doesn't have a phone and is west of I-26... his brother rips off the name. Go to Holly Hill and ask anyone in town. If you have found the right place, it will be a big old house with lots and lots of cars in front. I'm hungry just thinking about that place.

I'll also recommend Wilburs in Goldsboro along with Moores (on Hwy 17) in New Bern.

Go to Kings in Kinston. Classic Eastern style that will set you free.

Zeke,
We live on the Outer Banks [Corolla, NC]...
There's good NC cue all over the place but here's a couple of our favorites:

Southland
Right on 168 at the VA/NC border, on the left hand side as you're Southbound.
Good stuff!

High Cotton
Southern Shores
Cross the Wright Memorial Bridge, take the first left at the light just South of Home Depot, right at the next light. High Cotton will be on your right hand side, just South of Eckerds.
