For Us In Kansas City.....Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue

I've lived in KC since I was 7 years old...there are lots of good BBQ places, but Fiorellas Jack Stack remains the best in my book. And I remain incapable of duplicating (or even really challenging!) their ribs! Man, they are good.

There's lots of great places though. The Gates sauces, which have a nice thinner bite to them compared to other sweeter sauces, are great, but I usually just buy them at the store and use them with my own BBQ. Smoked whole catfish basted with Gates BBQ sauce? Maybe really weird, but also really good! And I like it better with really hearty meats like brisket, the vinegar cuts through more than with the general Kansas City sauces. But I do like Jack Stack sauces, they have a more complex flavor than many.

I'm from east-ish, Raytown, to be precise.

I thought Jack's Stack was very good but my personal favorite is Haywards for a combo of sausage and burnt ends (and my favorite sauce on the planet).

My next choice would be Rosedale followed by Gates, followed by Jack's stack, Wyandotte, Oklahoma Joe's and Zarda and then somewhere way down the line is Masterpiece

I moved away from KC a long time ago but I still go back to see family and try to hit up a new BBQ place everytime I'm home. For the life of me, I don't know why I haven't been to Arthur Bryants yet.

I'm the same way, I've lived here all my adult life and haven't been down there.

From what I've heard of their sauce I don't think I'd much care for it though. Might be a unique acquired taste.
