Best BBQ Joints in Central Texas: :D

1. Black's BBQ- Lockhart
2. City Market - Luling
3. Cooper's - Llano
4. Smitty's - Lockhart
5. Southside Market - Elgin
6. Louie Mueller - Taylor

Don't look for ANY good BBQ in these cities because it does not exist:

Houston, San Antonio, Dallas.

How could they leave out The salt Lick just southwest of Austin? The best family style BBQ in Texas.

PostOakSmoke,

great list and I agree. As for the Dallas and San Antonio comments - I don't agree. There are a couple of good joints.

Sonny Bryan's on Inwood in Dallas. This is the original just off Harry Hines by the medical school UT Southwestern.

San Antonio has the original Rudy's in Leon Springs - on I-10.

Rudy's is pretty good, and thier creamed corn is SPECTACULAR......

J.J.'s BBQ in Cedar Park at 1431 & 183 is good stuff too!

I have to give the nod to the Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood. County Line BBQ, in Austin, is not too shabby.

I really enjoyed my visit to the original Rudy's out in Leon Springs. Great brisket and incredible sides. Turkey was very good too.

I've only had Salt Lick in the Austin Airport, so I won't jump to conclusions. It was good for airport 'que.

I went to Rudu's yesterday and got some prime rib which was spectacular. Then I also got 1/2 rack of baby backs and they were terrible, maybe the worst I have had in a long time. Guess I will stick to brisket, prime rib, and turkey.
