Indy bound

Any recs for Indianapolis? Will be downtown w/o car.

I've never eaten there but St. Elmo's Steak House is an Indianapolis legend.

If you do manage to get ahold of some transportation I recommend The Tamale Place on the west side.

When you coming?

There is always Weber Grill which is by Circle Center mall downtown, There is also PF Changs in the mall and the Ram which is a brewhouse on the backside of the mall on Maryland Street I do believe and is right across from St Elmo's. If you are looking for fancy there is also the Eagles Nest which is on the 24th floor of the Hyatt downtown. I have also heard great reviews about the old spaghetti factory.

Depending on when you will be in Indy on June 14 there is Strawberry festival on monument circle which is put on by the Christ Church Cathedral church and for 6.00 you can get strawberry shortcake with ice cream and whipped cream and they usually put out over 18,000 shortcakes on that day. I work with one of the guys who will be working on that day and we are planning on stopping there after our team lunch at PF Changs that day.

We have ate at several of the downtown places and I liked Rock Bottom, Eagles Nest, Weber Grill, PF Changs.

I have heard great reviews about Oceanaire, Palamino, Shula's, Fogo De Chao, St Elmo's shrimp cocktail has been featured on the Food Network best thing I have ever eaten, so has Shapiro's deli and they are known for super thick pastrami sandwiches and was highlighted by Marc Summers who is originally from Indy. Ruths Chris downtown is an expensive steakhouse. The Tamale place that screaming chicken talked about was also featured on Food Network Diners, Drive-ins and Dives by Guy Fieri.

I've been to St. Elmo. Ties for 1st place, with Gallagher's in NYC, as best steak I've ever had! No one - no where - and I've eaten my share of shrimp over the years - has a better shrimp cocktail than St. Elmo.

They have been voted best shrimp cocktail in Indy several times

Fogo De Chao. The ultimate all-you-can-eat-pigout-place. The salad bar alone is bigger than most homes.
