Casa Rio, San Antonio, TX

Not BBQ, but dang good Tex Mex. Work brought me to San Antonio this week. I pm'ed Griffin, and he told me about Casa Rio... I think it's the oldest tex mex place in the area, if I'm not mistaken. Tried it out last night...







I decided on the Tamales...





The chicken and cheese chili was killer. Everyone in my group raved about the food. Their salsa and guacamole was excellent, too.

After dinner, we had a nice walk down the Riverwalk and did some sightseeing.

Having a great time so far. Saw the Alamo movie at the IMAX last night, and we are visiting the Alamo tonight. Maybe I'll get to see Pee Wee Herman's bicycle?

Thanks to Griffin for the great information. I took some more pix of another restaurant called Acenar that I'll post when I get back home. They had some great Tex Mex as well. Hope to even eat something else tasty and unhealthy after visiting the Alamo tonight.

Been to Casa Rio a couple times and food is great! Like the mariachi singers that drift around and in & out of the various places. For a couple $'s most will try to play just about anything that you request, even if they don't know it and it's not traditional.
