Some of the best BBQ In central Texas is in Dripping Springs. (The Salt Lick ) Well worth the drive.

Please don't mislead the fine folks that are looking for great Texas BBQ. First of all, Salt Lick is in Driftwood, not Dripping Springs. Secondly, you are either kidding or don't know much about great Texas BBQ. Salt Lick is an overhyped, overpriced tourist trap. Take away the hill country atmosphere and you have very average BBQ by Austin standards, which is not really saying much. The REAL bigtime Central Tx. BBQ joints are found east and southeast of Austin. Here's just a few that sell far superior BBQ than SL. (As far as Austin BBQ goes, I'd rather go to John Mueller's or even The County Line before wasting my time and money driving out to the SL).
