Two Best Q-Joints in Dallas???

I'm heading to Dallas in a few weeks and was hoping that someone could tell me the two best BBQ restaurants in Dallas. I'll be staying in the vicinity of the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, but will have a rental car to get around a bit. I only ask for two spots as I'm traveling with someone else and they aren't into Q as much as I am. Only going to be there 2 1/2 days.

I rarely get to Dallas and have only eaten there once or twice, but not BBQ. I probably wouldn't know a "good" BBQ joint if it reached out an slapped me 'cause I'm so used to eatin' my own now.

I ate at a Red, Hot & Blue in southern Missouri and it was alright. I've heard tell that Bone Daddy's in like the "Hooter's" of BBQ joints as far as atmosphere.

Unfortunately, Dallas isn't the greatest place in the world for BBQ, but there are a few spots. I'm not sure why there isn't much great BBQ in Dallas, but it seems the best BBQ in the state is in the Hill Country.

Here are a few:

Although I've never been myself (the hours are a bit odd), there is a place called North Main BBQ in Euless, TX which is about 5-10 minutes from the airport. I've been told by numerous people it is a great place for some good Q. They are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00AM-9:00PM and Sundays from 11:00AM-4:00PM. Address is 406 N Main St, Euless, TX 76039. Hopefully you're in town when they're open.

Aside from there, there is a place in Coppell, TX called Hard Eight (a personal favorite of mine). It is also very close to the airport, again, around 5-10 minutes away. The address is 688 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, TX 75019. They are open on a little more normal schedule. Mon-Thurs 10:30AM-9:00PM, Fri-Sat 10:30AM-10:00PM, Sun 10:30AM-3:00PM.

And then there is Sonny Bryan's. They have a location in Las Colinas which is about 10 minutes from the airport. 4030 N MacArthur Blvd, Irving, TX 75038. Open daily from 11:00AM-8:30PM.

Hopefully that is a good starter for suggestions. If you try North Main BBQ, let me know how it is.

Unfortunately, I'll only be in the Dallas area on Tuesday through Thursday so I won't have an opportunity to try "North Main BBQ". We will plan on stopping at "Sonny Bryan's" on Inwood Road (the original). Is there another "Must See" q-joint nearby?

I can't think of any places off the top of my head that are in the vicinity. However, if you want just about the best burger in Dallas there is a joint called Maple & Motor that is around the corner from the original Sonny Bryan's.

Well I actually was able to hit three Q-joints in the DWF area. As soon as we landed (about 1:30) we headed to Sonny Bryant's on Inwood Rd. It was quite a unique experience with the shack and benches with school desk tops, but the brisket was pretty good - fairly tender and good flavor. I was also impressed with the pulled pork - I didn't think that I'd get good pork in Texas.
That night for dinner we hit Big Racks BBQ & Sports Grill in Grapevine. The pulled pork was the best that I've ever put in my mouth in a restaurant, and the scenery wasn't too bad either!!! My first experience with a breasteraunt other than Hooters.
The next evening for dinner we hit Hard Eights in Coppel and I was again impressed with their brisket. Their pulled pork left a bit to be desired, but the beans made up for it. If you've been there you know what I mean. It was Jeep night and there were about 50 jeeps in the parking lot!!!

So much for my two day epoch in Dallas! I hope to get back there some day to try some more Q!

Hard Eight just started serving pulled pork a few months ago, so maybe they're just getting used to making it.

As for Big Rack's, I haven't been since they changed names to that. I'll have to go back and try it again I suppose. I've been there before when it was called Cutie Pie's. I always got the idea it was more about the scenery than the food kinda like a Hooters or Twin Peaks. Sounds like they stuck with the "scenery" idea.
