Looking for some good BBQ in Raleigh?

I'm on a business trip from Buffalo, and looking for a good place for some real BBQ... No Chains

The best Q-joint in Raleigh is "Clyde Cooper's", 109 E. Davie St., (919) 832-7614. This is the only "old-time" Q-joint still around the downtown Raleigh area, and the best one around too!

Another "establishment" in Raleigh is "The Pit", 328 W. Davie St., (919) 890-4500. Now this place is not your typical Q-joint! It is rather "up-scale" and their prices reflect that also. Ed Mitchel used to have an "old-time" joint in Wilson before going to prison for tax evasion. Since getting out, he opened this place in Raleigh. Linen tablecloths and knapkins, with a large wine list - NOT your typical NC pork palace!

Been to Coopers numerous times and they are consistantly pretty good. Been to The Pit twice and wasn't too impressed either time. There are several others, but unless you just want to be disappointed, stick with Coopers!!!
