I used to be stationed in Tampa, and my wife (girlfriend at the time) introduced me to Big John's Alabama BBQ. I love it so much that last summer we drove down from Milwaukee (where we live now) just to get some Big John's. I brought home a gallon of his spicy, delicious, vinegar-based sauce -- that should last me another year or so! You can smell Big John's several blocks away -- everything is cooked over wood, onsite. Open every day except Sunday.
Everyone who works at Big John's are kin, and when you walk in, you'll know it's good food because everyone in the family is big.
Beware, though, it's addictive, and not for the novice BBQ'er. It's good, old fashioned southern BBQ. If you order a rib sandwich, you get a slab of ribs (bones and all) between 2 pieces of bread. Same thing with a chicken sandwich.
I highly recommend the pulled beef or pulled pork sandwich combo.
