Hurricane Katrina Relief

Like everyone in America and certainly everyone on the Barbecue Board, I am shocked and saddened by the awful destruction from Hurricane Katrina. I’m sure a lot of members from our Barbecue Board live on the Gulf Coast. The concern we’ve seen expressed so far on the board says so much about our barbecue community. So I’d like to ask you to do three things:

First, please reach out to our Gulf Coast Barbecue Board members.
If anyone has any news, please post it on the board and let us know.

Second, conserve gasoline. Even a gallon a week will make a huge difference.

Third, make a contribution to one of the many relief organizations that desperately trying to meet the very critical needs of Katrina’s victims. Here are several that can channel your support where it’s needed:

Red Cross: 1-800-HELP-NOW

Salvation Army: 1-800-SAL-ARMY

American Jewish Committee: 1-212-751-4000

America’s Second Harvest: 1-800-344-8070

Christian Disaster Response: 1-941-956-5183

Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

And of course, let the storm victims know they’re in your thoughts.

Having survived hurricane Andrew, I can’t tell you enough how much
outreach from our fellow citizens means.
