As the sun came up over the Hudson River earlier this week, Steven taped a segment for the popular TV show, The View. The theme? Asian grilling. The menu? Honey sesame shrimp on the barbie; Hong Kong honey glazed chicken wings; grilled pineapple; and to wash it all down, the drink made famous by the legendary Raffles Hotel in Singapore: the Singapore sling. (All the recipes are in The Barbecue Bible, several hundred copies of which were given to the View audience.) To do the grilling, Steven brought in 4 Lodge charcoal burning hibachis. The hosts were Star Jones and Melania Trump and it may be the first time in either one’s life that they grilled. The show will air on ABC on Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. EST.


Workman Publishing publicist Kim Hicks takes a turn at the hibachi, grilling up Hong Kong honey glazed wings. The wings are marinated with salt, pepper, and garlic, then brushed with honey just before they come off the grill. (For the recipe, see Barbecue Bible page 52.) Note the use of an aluminum foil shield to keep the skewer ends from burning.
