I’m sure all of you are aware of the terrible destruction wrought by the tsunami in south Asia at the end of December. What you may not realize is how many of the afflicted areas lie at the heart of the world’s Barbecue Trail. Indonesia is the birthplace of satay; India, tandoori, and Thailand and Malaysia have a century old tradition of grilling over coconut shell charcoal. I’ve viewed footage of the destruction with great personal sadness: when I was writing Barbecue Bible, I studied at and dined at barbecue shacks on many of the beaches that now lie in ruins. Below is a list of organizations that provide relief for tsunami victims. Please consider making a contribution. We grill jockeys have to stay together. Thanks!
